Rural Studio is an off-campus design-build program, in the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture at Auburn University. The Rural Studio style guide is produced and distributed yearly to students and faculty involved with the studio. It is a living document designed to guide the viewer in the visual and writing styles set by the studio. Its simple yet elegant design and format are intentional so as to be authentic and easily updated each year when revisions and updates are made to the guidelines.

The booklet is organized into three sections: introduction, visual style guides, and writing style guides. Section one introduces the reader to the story, philosophy, and attitude of Rural Studio. Section two is a quick visual guide intended to demonstrate the appropriate use of the work mark as well as use of color, typography, imagery, and flexible grid. Finally, Rural Studio believes that words matter. Therefore, section three gives the reader a guide to accessing the frequently referenced information. It also explains the reasoning behind many choices.

The identity system and style guide booklet design were created in collaboration with colleague, Margaret Fletcher, Professor of Architecture at Auburn University.
